Saturday we went on a hill country tour for my big birthday adventure. It was awesome! Like ten chocolate cakes worth of awesome. Our first stop was Bandera. In an antique mall I found the prettiest light. It was hanging in the corner of the basement with no price. The wiring, while functional, was far from modern… or safe. Because it needed rewired, they sold it fit $17.50. Did I mention it was pretty? Painted glass shade in gold. Lacey cut outs on the metal fixture. Love it!
Love it so much I made us stop at home depot after we got back to San Antonio & buy a pendant light kit. A little tinkering by the husband later, and we have a new (old) light!
Sure it might have made sense to hang it in any of the numerous places we don’t currently have a light, but that would be too normal. I decided to switch out the fixture in the hall outside our bedroom. There used to be a boring globe light. Functional, but ugly. Now the new one hangs lower, de-emphasizing the ugly ceiling. Nevermind the unfinished walls. He did a great job with the wiring & hanging. I love having a handy husband. 🙂 Before rewiring and after hanging in hall photos below. Details of Kerrville, Fredricksburg, and my actual birthday to follow soon.
